Social Responsibility

Since the founding days of Amway, social commitment has been an important part of our corporate philosophy. Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos, the company's founders themselves, were working to support people in their community. To this day, Amway feels committed to this legacy of its founders. For Amway, taking on social responsibilities is a matter of course – globally, in Europe, and on the local level.

With its global One by One Campaign, Amway wants to provide children all over the world with a chance to live a better life. To achieve this aim, the company supports various projects promoting education and health as well as cultural advancement among children in more than 50 countries. Since 2003, more than 12 million children have benefited from Amway's One by One Campaign. In 2005, the Amway parent corporation Alticor received the Corporate Citizenship Award from the Center for Corporate Citizenship of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

On the European level, Amway in 2001 entered a partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Since then, European employees and Business Owners have raised about 112 million USD for UNICEF. And Amway is making a consistent effort to continue along this path: by 2010, Amway has committed to donate an additional 500.000 Euros each year to help children in distress.

But Amway also takes a social responsibility role at the local level. On their Volunteer Days, Amway employees are given a day off from their jobs to support social institutions, such as local nursery schools, hospitals, schools, or orphanages. In 2006, Amway employees and Amway Business Owners worldwide dedicated 1,3 million hours volunteering for social projects.
